Musicals for me stand out more than other genres of film. Yes, you might get excited over an action movie, swept away to "a galaxy far, far away" or scared out of your wits, but musicals stay with you like nothing else. Think of Judy Garland and immediately Dorothy singing "Over The Rainbow" comes to mind. Who can watch Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dance and not want try to do the same?
